Uncle Joe's walnuts and hazelnuts are cracked daily, to order. We produce nut oils and nut spreads that were award winning in the Gourmet oil Competition at the Royal Show and Cuisine Artisan awards.
Our walnuts and hazelnuts are harvested around Marlborough from an abundance of both old and new trees and our orchard, which are situated across the deep alluvial free draining soils of the Wairau plains.
The varieties of nuts and locations shapes the uniqueness of flavour in our products. Proof are the awards “Best oil in show” 2007 and 2008 and best walnut oil 2007,2008,2009 at the Royal Show Gourmet Oil Competition in Christchurch, Silver medal for the Hazelnut oil 2009, and Cuisine Artisan award for Uncle Joes Walnut Spread in 2009.
Uncle Joe's products are high in health benefits with the walnut containing omega-3 and polyunsaturated oils, which your body cannot produce itself. The hazelnut offers monounsaturated oils and vitamin E.
We cold press the nuts with Oil Seed Extractions in Ashburton, known leaders in their field, without the intrusion of air and light, thus retaining all the goodness of the nuts and giving the oils long shelf lives compared to other nut oils.
No cholesterol, as they are from a plant source and they retain all the beneficial vitamins and minerals due to the care that is taken to produce them.
