Latinum Technology Limited is run by Charles and Nikki Graves. We are fortunate to live on Waiheke Island. It is only a short ferry ride from downtown Auckland and with modern remote access software we are able to quickly establish control and rectify all but the most stubborn of problems.
Many ask, “Whats with the name?” Well it started out when we were looking for a name for our family trust. I can’t speak for others but I have always found it difficult to name things. I am sure if I ever get a boat it will be called blank, or clueless, I see Joe Public has already been taken. Being a bit of a Sci Fi nut (aren’t most geeks?), the name Latinum sprang to mind. In the universe of Star Trek latinum is a form of currency. Latinum is a liquid with the unique property that its molecular structure cannot be replicated or synthesized, providing the condition of shortage necessary for a substance to be used as currency. As it is difficult to properly measure liquid for currency transactions, premeasured amounts of latinum are inserted into hollow cores of gold bullion of various sizes, leading to the standard units of gold-pressed latinum: slip, strip, bar, and brick. So there we have the ingredients for a company name, high in value, not replicatable, is in short supply and is so valuable it is encased in gold.
A huge part of the philosophy at Latinum Technology is to try and get inside the heads of our customers, as scary as that may be. As computers have become an essential part of most business’ we feel it is essential to understand our customers needs and processes to be able to provide them with the tools to achieve their goals. Another important component of our philosophy is to enjoy what we do and we want our customers to enjoy what we have done. If we can’t add value or it’s not fun, we generally don’t do it, which leaves more time for fishing.
