Motueka Valley Regional Information

The Motueka Valley is the fertile site in which the region's famous crops and fruits are planted.

In fact, New Zealand's entire hops crop is grown in the Riwaka and Motueka River valleys. This crop is used in the beer production process, to brew fine New Zealand beers. Fruit orchards and vineyards are also planted in this region, and in the past, tobacco crops were grown here. During the annual harvest, the population of the Motueka region surges with the seasonal influx of workers on the orchards and hops fields.
