Cook Islands

The Cook Islands are a self-governing parliamentary democracy in the Pacific, made up of fifteen small islands. The Islands are in a free association with New Zealand, and residents of the Cook Islands are subsequently New Zealand citizens.

As associated state since 1965, the Cook Islands now has a population of 19,569 (2006 census), and covers a land area of 240 square kilometres. The GDP of the region is $183.2 million.
