Whangaparaoa Regional Information
The Whangaparaoa Peninsula lies 25 kilometres to the north of Auckland City, stretching east into the Hauraki Gulf. The small township of Whangaparaoa is situated on the southwestern shore of the peninsula, at the starting point of the Hibiscus Coast.
The area attracts holiday makers from Auckland and further afield, who enjoy its climate and a wide range of activities in the waters around Whangaparaoa, including boating, windsurfing, swimming and jet skiing. A visit to the 929 acre Shakespear Park provides access to beaches, picnic areas and camping grounds, as well as mountain biking trails, bush walks and lookout points with views of the Hauraki Gulf.
The peninsula is also the site of Gulf Harbour, boasting the second largest marina in the Southern Hemisphere, with close to 1,000 berths, as well as a golf course which is renowned internationally.
