The Pet Hub was launched by qualified veterinarian Dr. Francesca Matthews, and is kept up to date with the help of her passionate and qualified team of veterinarians, instructors, and mascot, Kruger the cat.
After a comprehensive search of the internet, Dr Matthews found the "pet web" was hard to navigate, and it was difficult to find reliable and relevant information quickly. She decided to create a first-stop website for New Zealand pet owners, eliminating the clutter of cyberspace so users could find interesting animal articles, pet products reviews and visitor feedback, and other useful information easily, while being able to share their own ideas and experiences.
The Pet Hub's extensive pet care information listings cover every pet, from cats and dogs, to rabbits, horses, birds, fish and amphibians. Their pet care and pet products recommendations information focuses on important issues like genetic conditions, vaccinations, nutrition, desexing, grooming, exercise, and training, to name just a few, and each section gives a list of useful links to other relevant websites.
The site provides a handy directory of pet products and services, where finding a local veterinary clinic, doggy day care centre, or groomer is made easy. And their comprehensive features section gives an easy to navigate snapshot of articles, videos, and "pet and people diaries", where users can read up on everything from sustainable pet ownership and animal behaviour, to recipes to bake for their dog and new pet therapies available.
What's more, the site allows pet owners and their pets to connect through a number of forums and noticeboards. Their "what" hot this week’ section points users to some of the newest and most interesting articles and tips, and the Pet Hub's Pet of the Week spot gives plucky pooches, cuddly cats and a host of other exotic animals the chance to show the rest of their Pet Hub online community just what they get up to at home.
The Pet Hub also makes it easy to get the kids involved in raising the family pet, with a fun and easy to use Kids Zone section, with animal word finds, amazing animal facts, and kids’ only competitions.
Pet owners can also join the free online pet club, allowing them to ask Pet Hub experts questions online at no charge, view previously answered questions submitted by other members, receive free e-newsletters updating them on new content and competitions, and be entered in regular prize draws for members only.
