General Hawkes Bay Weather Information

Located on the east coast of the North Island, Hawkes Bay is New Zealand's leading food and wine region. With over 2,200 hours of sunshine annually and year round warm temperatures, Hawkes Bay weather is perfect for the production of wines and the growing of fresh produce. All seasons offer an 'in season' delight: new asparagus, strawberries, lettuce and herbs in the spring; sweetcorn, eggplant, berries and stone fruit in the summer; apples, pears, avocadoes and olives in autumn; and citrus and winter vegetables in the coldest months of the year. Grapes are pressed for wine production in late summer, but wines can be enjoyed with fine cuisine at any time of the year.

Hastings enjoys long, hot summers and mild winters, making for bumper fresh produce crops and an abundance of produce from both orchards and vineyards. Hastings and the surrounding district boast more than forty wineries, where the region's top cuisine and wine can be sampled. Hastings weather is Mediterranean, with warmth and moderate rainfall.

Napier is a seaside step back to the 1930's, renowned for its distinctive Art Deco architecture and warm climate. Napier weather is some of the sunniest anywhere in New Zealand; the city enjoys over 2,200 hours of sunshine each year.
