Located on the sunny east coast of the North Island, Gisborne is our most eastern city and the first to see the sun each day. The city and greater Gisborne region enjoy a dry, warm climate and a high number of sunshine hours. Summers are warm, with daytime temperatures reaching an average of 23°C, and winters are mild, reaching an average 12°C. Gisborne's mild climate, combined with rich alluvial soils, make this an ideal location for the growing of maize, grapes, citrus fruits, kiwifruit and subtropical fruits.
