Northland, Auckland and Coromandel Peninsula
Frequent showers, some heavy, with isolated squally thunderstorms and hail today and again in Northland tomorrow night.

From Waikato to Taumarunui, also Bay of Plenty and Taupo
Rain spreading south today, and gradually easing tomorrow.

Taranaki to Wellington, Gisborne to Wairarapa, and also Nelson, Marlborough and Buller
Outbreaks of rain spreading to most places by tonight. The rain persistent in eastern areas tomorrow, with snow lowering to 700 metres in Marlborough.

Westland and Fiordland
Fine in Fiordland, but high cloud increasing in Westland, with a few spots of rain tomorrow.

Canterbury, Otago and Southland
Scattered rain, becoming widespread in the east today and snow lowering to 300 to 400 metres. Rain and snow easing in Southland and south Otago tomorrow.

The Chatham Islands
Occasional showers.

Monday
North Island, rain or showers for most, with snow about the ranges in the south and east at first. South Island, rain or showers for most, with snow to low levels in the east. However, remaining dry in inland Southland and Otago.

Tuesday
North Island, some rain or showers for most but becoming fine in Gisborne Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa. South Island, cold and unsettled with some rain or showers for most, and snow to low levels in the east.

Wednesday
North Island, showers and southerlies developing in the east, becoming mostly fine in the west. South Island, becoming mainly fine in the west and about Nelson, but showers along the east coast.

Chatham Islands
Showers on Monday, with fresh southwesterlies developing. On Tuesday, showers becoming fewer, with southwesterlies dying out. Wednesday brings a further influx of showers, with southwest winds developing and rising to gale force.
