With business travel being reduced to only essential trips in favour of meetings and conference calls over the phone, your business' phone bill is probably one of the many basic running expenses that have increased recently.
Are you still picking up the phone to call your colleagues in other offices throughout the country, or contacts in Australia or further overseas? If so, your company's phone bills are probably extremely high, much higher than they need to be.
With cost cutting the theme of the year for many businesses, we're all looking for ways to make essential expenses cheaper, without compromising on quality or convenience of our services. Looking for a solution to save money on everyday expenditure? Switch your phone call service to a VoIP phone. Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) essentially, is the ability to make phone calls over an internet connection, rather than a land line phone connection.
Set up is cheap, and making calls via VoIP costs next to nothing, meaning your business can save on phone line connection fees and expensive toll call rates. VoIP goes much further than simply using popular internet calling programs like Skype. Most Skype users keep their existing land line and simply use the program to call other Skype users, or make just international calls. Recent internet regulations have allowed network companies to give customers 'naked DSL', which enables you to have a broadband connection without the need for a land line as well. This means all of your calling; from across the Cook Straight to across the globe, can be done for just a few cents per minute.
Your computer can be given a unique identification number on the internet, with which VoIP uses to attach a particular phone number to, one that anyone can call from a traditional phone line. Services such as call forwarding, caller ID and conferencing are also available on VoIP connections, services which can each cost you up to $10 per month with a standard land line.
How Much Does VoIP Save?
To set your business up with VoIP, you neither either a VoIP handset or a converter box which you can plug your existing phone into. Either will cost you a little less than $100 from a major electronics retailer. In addition to your standard broadband costs, you will then need to sign up to a VoIP plan with your ISP, most giving you all the local calling you can do for around $10.
This makes VoIP running costs already less expensive than having just a standard land line, not to mention the savings you make when you call nationally or internationally, which costs just 5 cents or so per minute. With land line toll rates nearing around ten times this per minute for just national calling, and several dollars per minute fore international calling, you business will save an extravagant amount every month.
VoIP can work over both corded and cordless handsets, making it for all operational purposes, the same as a standard phone. VoIP is a great option at home as well, so while you're setting up your business, rid your home of your land line too to save money on all of your personal calling. If you're looking for an easy way to save money for your voice communications - get onto VoIP, and you'll never look back.
