After the disappointment at last year's World Cup, the Iveco rugby series in June 2008 is the All Blacks' first tournament since 2007. Playing three games in New Zealand (Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch), this series is set to prime the All Blacks for the annual tri-nations competition, which runs from July to September.
The Tri Nations tournament is held between Australia's Wallabies, New Zealand's All Blacks and South Africa's Springboks. The first tournament was in 1996 as was won by the All Blacks. To 2007, New Zealand has won the series a total of 8 times since its beginning, including taking the top prize for the last 3 years. Australia and South Africa have both won the series twice each.
The 2008 End of Year rugby series, known to teams in the Northern Hemisphere as the Autumn Internationals, sees Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Argentina, the Pacific Islanders, Canada, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Italy, and France, plus some regional teams (such as Munster from Ireland) and the Barbarians (an invite only international team) compete at several venues in the Northern Hemisphere. The tour ends with the traditional Barbarians game, against Australia.
