The NZS.com School Terms 2009 article contains the 2009 primary school term and holiday dates, intermediate term dates and secondary term dates.

The exact dates change from year to year and school to school, but all school children must complete the required half-days of instruction each year.

Students have a six week break over the summer period, and three two week breaks between the four terms of the year. Private schools set their own terms, and generally have longer breaks throughout the school year.

During the terms, public schools will close for all statutory and public holidays, including regional holidays and teacher-only days.
