An annual mountain biking event in the Blenheim area. This medium skill level cross country mountain bike ride has some demanding climbs and descents, traversing farms and pastoral land, swamp, rock scree and stony riverbed terrain.

Athletics New Zealand presents a road relay in Timaru, just two hours south of Christchurch. Senior and junior grades for both men and women, with a minimum age of 14 years.

Kepler Challenge   (www.keplerchallenge.co.nz)  

An annual endurance running event, taking contestants sixty kilometres in mountain terrain. The Kepler Challenge has been running for twenty years and follows the Kepler Track from Te Anau.

A New Zealand boat show, held at the Auckland showgrounds on Queen's Birthday Weekend.

HSBC Round the Bays   (www.roundthebays.co.nz)  

An annual event in Auckland since 1972, the HSBC Round the Bays run has now grown to be one of the world's largest fun-runs, with nearly 40,000 registered runners and an estimated 70,000 participants. The run is 8.4km long over a flat course that follows the contours of Auckland's Waitemata harbour.

The University of Waikato and Harvard University go head to head in The Great Race, a rowing regatta on a 4.2km upstream course on the Waikato River.

Offering you the opportunity to experience adventure racing, either at their own pace or as apart of an event. Adventure Nelson runs Rollo's Nelson Adventure Race, Rollo's 6Hour, the Nelson Harbour Classic Kayak race and the Musselman event.

A 72 kilometre mountain biking adventure at the top of the Coromandel Peninsula. Riders climb to around 500 vertical metres with spectacular views. The ride will take between five and seven hours.

Rainbow Rage   (www.rainbowrage.co.nz)  

A 106 kilometre mountain bike adventure ride that starts outside of St Arnaud and traverses some of the South Island's most beautiful subalpine high country, finishing at Hanmer Springs.

Great Naseby Water Race   (www.greatnasebywaterrace.co.nz)  

A unique ultra distance event taking place in Naseby, the highest town in New Zealand. Choose from two race distances: 50 miles and 50kilometres. Held in August, the water race involves running through Naseby Forest.

Opotiki's Motu Challenge   (www.motuchallenge.co.nz)  

Opotiki's Motu Challenge is now considered one of the country's premier multisport races. It is the second largest race of its kind in New Zealand, with a total of approximately 740 entrants competing in last year's event.

Kelt Capital Horse of the Year   (www.hoy.co.nz)  

Five days of competition will determine the Horse of the Year at one of New Zealand's largest equestrian sporting events. This internationally accredited event covers 14 sections and attracts both national and international participants.
