It’s an exciting week for many who regularly buy lottery tickets as the maximum Big Wednesday draw must be hit this week. You’ll be able to see the Big Wednesday Results on the NZS.com New Zealand Lotto pages following the draw.

Last week (Draw #191) was the final week where the jackpot could have gone before it reached its maximum allowed level of $30 million. There was no 1st Division winner, so the jackpot rolled over to a “must go”.

On the MyLotto.co.nz website the must win jackpot work is described as follows;

If the cash prize component of the prize reaches $30 million and there is no First Division winner, Big Wednesday must be won, therefore the First Division prize is added to the next lowest prize division which has one or more winning tickets.

Good luck if you’re buying a ticket and if you’re a keen fan of the games, you can bookmark the New Zealand Lotto

Do you struggle week after week to find the latest Lotto results, Big Wednesday results and Keno results? NZS.com is now your source for all of your results – we’ve launched our brand new New Zealand Lotto section today!

We are dedicated to providing results from the latest draws to you in an simple to navigate format which is easy on the eye. Unlike many other online lottery results sources, NZS.com provides past draw winning numbers, so if you find a ticket in an old pair of pants that went unchecked, this is where you can find out if you were a winner! Remember that your old tickets are valid for 12 months.

The History of Lotto is actually quite interesting – beginning thousands of years ago in China, the first records of a lottery was put in place to help fund the construction of the Great Wall of China. Since then both the Roman Empire and Queen Elizabeth I’s England have benefited from lottery funding, along with several ivy-leave American universities.

NZ Lotto has been in place since 1987 and is a popular pastime for hundreds of thousands of Kiwis. During the 1990s Keno was launched as a daily lottery option for the thrill of the draw, and three years ago in 2005 Big Wednesday was launched to give Kiwis the chance to win the ultimate lifestyle: luxury cars, boats, baches and cash.

We all know New Zealand is filled with popular tourist destinations, from mountains to art galleries to historic buildings. Our country is a flurry with travelers from both other NZ cities and international locations, and they may very well have a strange new destination on their ‘to see’ list: a pharmacy in Hastings.

Peter Dunkerley’s Radius Pharmacy is not your standard local chemist – it is also a lotto shop, the luckiest lotto shop in New Zealand to be precise.

The pharmacy has sold 32 first division lotto tickets and 158 second division prizes, the highest paying to date being won on Saturday last week: $1.3 million. The prize was won by visitors from Wellington, who made a special point to buy a ticket from this particular lotto store whilst on their trip to Hastings.

New Zealand has seen several tourists winning lotto in the past year, maybe being in the holiday spirit really does bring good luck (and wealth!).

Natasha Julian, business manager of the store, believes the pharmacy is on the tourist trail for anyone visiting the area – in fact they get busloads of punters every week coming in to buy tickets.
