Posted by Lee Suckling on February 19th, 2009

Looking for a new mobile phone? If you never got on the iPhone NZ bandwagon (or your blackberry needs and update), you’re in luck.

Google Phone has been confirmed for release in New Zealand within the first half of this year. The phone, which uses Google’s open source operating system Android, will be available on the Vodafone network.

The Google Phone, a second generation version of the T-Mobile G1, will feature WiFi, a 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS capabilities and a touch keyboard.

I was sold one of these as Vodafone don’t sell Iphone outright from their stores and I hate it, $1000 down the tubes, the touch screen isn’t very responsive, the camera takes very average pictures. I thought I would fall in love with it after I had used it for a few weeks, but I find myself getting more and more frustrated with it so called intuitive functions – leave your charger behind there is no chance your mates will have one that fits (unlike Nokia or the Iphone) if you live in New Zealand give this a miss
